Television, Entertainment, and Duds

Mark and I don't watch a lot of television. Our DVR records The Office, which we usually will watch once the kids are asleep on Thursdays, and we are suckers for American Idol auditions (we won't watch it again until the final six or so.)

Other than Dinosaur Train in the morning on PBS, that's were we stand on television. We're just too busy and don't like to watch when the kids are awake. Having said that, sometimes I feel like we're missing out on a lot of great television! We are told over and over again all the shows that we would love, but it's just not the right time.

Here's a list of shows that we have NEVER watched:
Desperate Housewives
24
Lost
Gray's Anatomy
Mad Men
CSI and all the other crime shows that I can't keep track of
Dexter
Modern Family

...and basically every other show that isn't The Office. Now, since the football season is coming to a close, we might activate our Netflix account again and add some TV series for something to do on a Saturday night.

What would you recommend?

Sorry Mallory, but The Office is the best show on TV, so any of these will disappoint! :-)

Still, the Smith's vote for netflixing Lost. By the time you've worked through the first 5 seasons, the last season will be on DVD, so no waiting after cliffhangers!

We watch way too much tv.
Our favorites are The Office, 30 Rock, Lost, Arrested Development (no longer on tv, but we love it), and The Middle.

The only time I am excited about TV is when American Idol is on. Otherwise it is usually UFC on and that is why I am reading or on the computer!

lost is fun...but if you have never seen an episode, i think its too much to watch the whole thing..unless you guys are patient enough to only watch an episode in a sitting..we are watching heroes (we don't havea tv so we watch on netflix) and we easily say "one more?" and 3 episodes later we have wasted a night..but heroes is fun too..but i admire your lack of watching stuff..maybe don't even watch a show and just enjoy a movie...one you don't have to commit to!! i hear the office is fun..ejoy that...maria
